Experience

My experience spans research and industry:

I have also worked as a research assistant and tutored seven university courses in mathematics and statistics, ranging from first-year to masters level.

Education

I completed my PhD at QUT (Centre for Data Science), where my thesis on Bayesian Federated Learning received a QUT Outstanding Thesis Award (top ~5% of theses in 2024).

Prior to that, I completed two degrees at the University of Otago: a BSc in Statistics (minor in Mathematics) and a BSc Honours in Statistics. Highlights include:

Personal

I grew up in Christchurch (South Island of New Zealand) and experienced a lot of these growing up. I played tennis in school and still enjoy racquet sports recreationally (tennis, badminton, squash, padel).

I have (mild hemiplegic) cerebral palsy. I'm not sure if many people in my professional life notice except for my "weird typing" (I think I type pretty okay for one hand! 😉).
